Abstract

Costa Rica lacks a national model for the care of healthy adolescents, limiting early detection of physical, mental, and social health risks. To address this gap, The Orange Book: Adolescent Health Record was developed as a tool to support comprehensive monitoring of growth, development, mental health, lifestyle habits, and vaccination. It fosters a strong connection between adolescents, families, and healthcare providers, ensuring continuity of care and the promotion of protective factors.

Inspired by Latin American and European experiences, this tool aligns with World Health Organization and American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines, aiming to strengthen prevention and establish adolescent health monitoring as a national public health strategy.
