Abstract

1n premature rupture of membranes, infection is one of the main risks. This paper refers to amniotic fluid examination as a medium to detect early infection. Three tests are analyzed : I) Glucose level in amniotic fluid; 2) Gram smear and 3) Leucocyte esterase levels.

Glucose level is the best of them but sensitivity and specificity are not good enough to recommend no one of them.
