Use of free scapular flap for mandibular reconstruction: a case report

Resections of advanced or recurrent cancers in the head and neck region generally leave complex defects. The plastic surgeon often faces many challenges in the reconstruction ofthese defects. Many tissue sources are available to reconstructive surgeons today. The free scapular flap fill the majority of the requests for head and neck defects. In this article we present the case of a mandibular defect after a resection for Basal cell carcinoma. We use the scapular flap with the osseous component only.
