The logic of the power of popular observation in medicine

Modern medicine is the product of years of carefulobservation and investigation. We can safely say that intel-ligent popular observation is the precursor of modern scien-tific investigation. In this article I review some of the expla-nations I have found to certain popular observationsthroughout my medical career. Over the years some popularobservations can be explained scientifically, some of thesetraditions deserve to be closely watched because they canbe useful in the daily practice of Medicine.
