Abstract

The Postgraduate Program in Forensic Medical Specialties of the University of Costa Rica currently presents a series of peculiarities that give it strengths such as the inter-institutional agreement with the judiciary, which allows the postgraduate training of its medical doctors, the promotion of continuing medical education through the duty of medical recertification and the quality management system in the judiciary that seeks to improve the technical skills of its forensic doctors, the promotion of biomedical research and the international relationship of medical doctors of this postgraduate program facilitated by its strategic location within the judiciary. However, nowadays it presents a series of challenges, which the medical doctors need to contextualize, as it is an essential medical service for society.
