Resumen

El ecosistema de microorganismos presente en la piel y mucosas se denomina microbiota, y el conjunto de genes de los estos, microbioma. La microbiota se encuentra en relación simbiótica con el hospedero. Estos microorganismos pueden ser bacterias, hongos, levaduras o virus. Técnicas moleculares de secuenciación masiva desarrolladas en los últimos años han permitido caracterizar mejor las bacterias presentes en el intestino. Hoy conocemos que alteraciones en el número o tipo de microorganismos que constituyen este ecosistema, se denominan disbiosis, condición presente en muchas patologías que afectan al ser humano.
